OAXACA EPISODE: Cold Brew & Character Voices
Welcome to Troublemakers a podcast about coffee and screenwriting and the things that go together just as great as the aforementioned. In this episode, we’re in beautiful Oaxaca, Mexico for the Oaxaca Film Festival with Courtney Deelen’s “Hunter’s Chance”.
Taking a break from the festivities to have an amazing cold brew at Cafe De Barro. One of the best things about the cold brew process is that because there never is hot water added to the brew to shock the bean/grounds, it gives a full-flavor without the acidic hit that comes from heat processing.
When it comes to writing your characters, having a distinct rhythm, wording, and weight with the words they use makes for an easier read and a stronger more distinctive choice. Thinking about emotional states, education, levels of intelligence in a emotional, social, and phycological ways plays so much into the words they use or don’t in a conversation.
So on your next pass at a script, keep this in mind and enjoy your coffee.
